6C 2500 S CabrioleT
1942 - Chassis # 915135 - engine # 923935
Here you find a brief history of perhaps one of the most famous and well documented Alfa Romeo 6C2500 in the world, which was – according to the Centro Storico Alfa Romeo – sold on the same day as Berlinetta 915207, namely
10th of June 1946.
This Cabriolet was produced in the summer of 1942 and during the war it was most likely hidden for the German occupier. It was bodied by Carrozzeria Turinga Superleggera and received body number 2653. In 1946, the car was imported by Swedish Alfa Romeo, Lancia and FIAT importer Fallai A.B. of Stockholm. Luigi Fallai was an Italian who lived in Sweden.
First owner of the car was Mr. Thure Mårtenson of Gislaved and friend of the Swedish King. The car got registration number F12009 in the summer of 1946. Thure Mårtenson owned several exotic cars and he was director of the company Svensk Cellulloidindustri A.B.
Racing history
Thure participated in various ice races and also took part in the Stockholm Grand Prix of 1948. Even Swedish motorcycle racer Erik Engvall raced and won with the Alfa. There are plenty of black & white pictures and films and even original color films of these races giving the 6C the nickname,
‘The Ice Alfa’. You will find the films
Thure’s son, Bengt, participated in the 1957 Mille Miglia with a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. In 2012, the current owner of 915135 visited Bengt, several pre-owners and many others who knew the car since new.
1952-1961
The 6C changed hands and regions during '52-'61 and the registration number changed from F12009 to N6969 to P65944 to finally got out of registration around 1960.
1961-1999
The car now spend several years in the Borås area where young pilot of the Swedish Airforce, Bo Hellström, bought the car. The current owner met Bo in 2012 and Bo told plenty of interesting stories about the time that he owned the car. The car was in need of restoration and Bo decided to sell it. The next owners started the restoration which was finally completed by Mr. Jan Eng in the early ‘80s.

1999 to date
Since 1999, 915135 was used often including holiday trips to Italy and several rallies and concourses. A painstakingly restoration done by well skilled experts was done and a dream came true: participation in the Mille Miglia of 2017.
Barnfind by the Italian police
915135 had already a long and well documented history but unexpectedly another page was added: the car was stolen May 13th 2018, just a couple of days before the start of Mille Miglia of that year. It was hidden for the next months but due to fantastic work by the ‘Squadra Mobile della Questura di Brescia – Polizia di Stato’ the 6C was found back by the Italian police on January 19th 2019 were it was hidden in an abandoned barn (see pictures right below).
In 2020, the 6C participated succesfully in the Mille Miglia which was also a great tribute to the Polizia and the organisation of the Mille Miglia. Also the editions of 2021 and 2022 were other succesful participations for 915135.
