6C 2500 S Berlinetta
1944 - chassis # 915207 - engine # 926007
This 6C 2500 with chassis number 915207 with the so called ‘Berlinetta’ body style was produced in 1944 and like Cabriolet 915135 it was sent to Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera of Milan. Mussolini introduced the (unwritten) law to avoid the use of foreign words and therefore Touring became ‘Turinga’. Only a few cars with a Turinga body have been built. The Berlinetta got Turinga body number 2857.
According to several reliable sources, Alfa Romeo produced only 18 or 20 cars in 1944. These sources show that only 9 Berlinettas have been made. Today, three of these cars still exist of which one has been modified.
915207 is one of the most pure and original 6C in all its details. It is well documented by plenty of original pictures and documentation. Imported by Luigi Fallai (see introduction at Cabriolet 915135) it was sold new to the legendary Uno Ranch of Göteborg. He was a businessman, racing driver and pilot and was also Bugatti dealer and Triumph motorcycles importer for Sweden. He used the Berlinetta for his journeys through Europe.
Mr. Ranch put the car aside with a broken water pump in the mid-1960’s and did not use the Alfa for years so registration number ‘01118’ lost its validation. In recent conversations with Mr. Ranch’s mechanic, Mr. Ranch used the car sporadically in the 1970’s to finally park it in his garage. His mechanic could remember the car very well and described it as a pure and very original car.
915207 was bought by its second owner in 1994 who started a renovation including a repaint and mechanical overhaul and fortunately he maintained all original aspects carefully. Its aluminum body was in very healthy condition and the car most likely drove only 61500 km. The car was not registered after but only used as a ‘trailer queen’.
In 2014, the car came in the collection of the current third owner, reuniting 915207 with cabriolet 915135. As Cabrio 915135 was stolen in 2018, the Berlinetta was brought in at the Mille Miglia of 2018. It won the ‘Coppa Clemente Biondetti’ for the most beautiful Alfa Romeo of the Mille Miglia that year. The famous designer Walter de’ Silva was member of the jury. In 2019 and 2021, 915207 proved its reliability again and completed these editions of the Mille Miglia succesfully.
